Tackle box. A Cabin in East Haddam, Connecticut

Tucked by the woods and the water.

tackle box: a cabin in east haddam connecticut

A two bedroom hideaway tucked by the woods and the water. Wake to quiet country mornings, wander down to the lake for an afternoon swim, and come home as the sun slips behind the trees. Dinner tastes better outside and stories last longer around the fire. Vintage at heart with fresh, modern comfort... winding back roads, and days spent exploring nearby trails, state parks, and sleepy river towns. A little nostalgic. A little wild. And wonderfully simple.

Good to know

Built in the 1950s and thoughtfully brought back to life, the cabin still carries the easygoing spirit of an old lake retreat... painted pine walls, vintage finds, handmade pieces and just enough nostalgia paired with the comforts you want for a weekend away. The newly renovated bath layers textured wallpaper, wooden accents and hand-painted ceramic tile. The kitchen feels delightfully nostalgic with its cream Smeg fridge, handmade mugs and collected vintage furniture. You’ll still find everything you need to cook breakfast in the morning or linger over dinner after a day outside. Both bedrooms are simple and clean, each with a queen bed, dresser and closet. Neighborhood

Located in a lake side residential neighborhood. Wooded lots provide ample privacy and dead end roads with little to no traffic.

Guest Access

The cabin is yours to settle into, from the deck and to the yard to the community beach a few steps down the road. Beach rules can be found inside the cabin for an easy read before you wander down to the water. Doggos are welcome here, too. Just send us a note before your stay and tell us a little about who you’re bringing along.

Find us

A car is the best way to reach and explore here. Country roads wind through the woods, with trailheads, state parks, swimming spots and little village centers all a short scenic drive away. The roads closest to the cabin are lovely for a walk, and further quieter stretches can be explored by bike if you don’t mind a few hills. Rideshares and taxis do make their way out here, though they’re less plentiful than in town. Old Saybrook is the nearest regional train station, and you’ll want to arrange a car, taxi or transfer for the final stretch into the countryside. The closest airports are in Hartford and New Haven.
